"Canada has a responsibility to ensure that weapons and military equipment produced here are not used to harm Palestinian civilians or contribute to violations of international humanitarian law," the organization said in a statement detailing the council's decision.
Alongside the directive to workers, the CLC formally petitioned federal authorities to implement a comprehensive halt on military exports. "We call on the Government of Canada to end all direct and indirect transfers of arms and military equipment to Israel," the federation stated, pressing Ottawa to uphold its international human rights commitments.
The Congress framed its stance within traditional trade union principles, stressing the protection of civilian life and advocacy for durable peace in the region.
"The labour movement has always stood for the rights, safety and dignity of working people everywhere," the statement concluded.
