- Andrey recounted an interrogation where two officers gestured to a portrait of Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him "King Bibi" before one officer kissed his hand and touched it to the picture's lips.
Following his recent arrest by ‘Israeli’ authorities while documenting settler violence during a West Bank olive harvest, Jewish-Russian activist Andrey Khraznovsky has shared details of what he describes as a surreal interrogation session at the police station.
Khraznovsky, known for his work filming and reporting on confrontations involving ‘Israeli’ settlers and Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank, was detained during an olive-picking event in the Binyamin region.
Speaking from a car shortly after his release, Khraznovsky recounted an encounter with two officers, an interrogator and his assistant. According to Khraznovsky, the assistant pointed to a wall displaying a portrait of ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked if he recognized him.
"The interrogator says, 'This is King, big big King, Bibi,'" Khraznovsky recalled. He went on to describe how the assistant officer then kissed his own hand and placed it onto the lips of Netanyahu's portrait.
"I sh*t you not, this happened," Khraznovsky added while laughing about the encounter with fellow passengers.
The incident highlights the tense and increasingly politicized environment surrounding anti-occupation activism in the West Bank. The annual olive harvest remains a frequent flashpoint, with activists routinely accompanying Palestinian farmers to document intimidation, harassment, and violence by ‘Israeli’ settlers.
