Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok identified Jesus as “Palestinian” when asked what his nationality would be if he were born in 2026.

The exchange began when an X user asked Grok to name Jesus’ nationality if he were born today, explicitly requesting “nationality only.”

Grok responded with a single word: “Palestinian.”

The response drew widespread attention on social media.

Jesus is believed to have been born in Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank, within the Palestinian territories.

Palestinian Christians, advocates and historians have all emphasized Jesus’ roots in the land, while critics argue that applying modern national identities to an ancient figure overlooks the historical context.

Neither xAI nor Elon Musk had publicly commented on the exchange at the time of writing.
