  •  The state banquet at Windsor Castle marks the first UK state visit by an Omani sultan in over four decades
  • King Charles III praised Oman’s "constructive neutrality," military ties, and peacemaking efforts in regional conflicts and the Strait of Hormuz

Britain's King Charles III quoted a saying attributed to Prophet Muhammad during a state banquet held at Windsor Castle in honor of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, praising the Omani people.

Delivering a portion of his address in Arabic before around 160 guests, King Charles quoted the Hadith: "If you were to come to the people of Oman, they would have neither reviled you nor beaten you."

The British monarch highlighted the quotation as a reflection of the noble character and long-standing spirit of tolerance exhibited by Oman throughout history. His remarks were part of an address praising the Sultanate's diplomatic peacemaking efforts across the Middle East.

The three-day state visit marks the first by an Omani sultan to the United Kingdom in more than 40 years.

During the banquet, King Charles emphasized the deep-rooted diplomatic, historical, and military ties between London and Muscat.

He specifically commended Oman’s "constructive neutrality" and its role as a trusted interlocutor in regional conflicts, noting its recent efforts to de-escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran and maintain open navigation through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The state visit comes amid heightened regional volatility in the Middle East, with Oman playing a central mediating role. As part of his itinerary, Sultan Haitham is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to focus on regional security, trade, and investment opportunities alongside senior corporate leadership from both nations.
