Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Tehran on Tuesday to review regional security developments and ongoing diplomatic mediation efforts.
The high-level meeting underscores Pakistan's role as a primary diplomatic bridge between Washington and Tehran.
Earlier Pakistani mediation yielded an interim peace arrangement known as the "Islamabad Memorandum" in June, though the pact rapidly faltered following fresh military hostilities between US and Iranian forces weeks later.
Addressing the delegation, Pezeshkian rejected US claims regarding Iran's nuclear activities as baseless, stressing that Tehran has repeatedly demonstrated good faith during past negotiations and international nuclear inspections.
"War is neither in our interest, nor in the interest of the region, the world, or even America," Pezeshkian said during the meeting. "We were and remain ready for dialogue, but the Americans must lift the threats and sanctions. The actions of the US side contradict its call for negotiations."
During his visit to the Iranian capital, Munir also held talks with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
According to an official Iranian readout of the meeting, Qalibaf informed the Pakistani army chief that Washington cannot regain Tehran's trust until it satisfies seven mandatory conditions presented by Iran last month to facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's core demands include the complete lifting of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports, the total removal of US sanctions targeting Iranian oil exports, and an immediate cessation of hostile military operations across all regional fronts.
