Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed on Saturday that Saudi warplanes carried out 53 air strikes over the preceding 24 hours across several Yemeni governorates.

According to statements issued by Saree, the strikes hit areas within the capital Sanaa, as well as the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Lahj, Saada, and Amran.

Saree alleged that the operation involved F-15 and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, claiming the fighter jets took off from the Khamis Mushait and Taif airbases inside Saudi Arabia.

Saudi authorities and the international coalition have not independently confirmed or verified the claims made in Saree's statement.

Netanyahu says 'Israel' must eliminate Iranian regime

  • Benjamin Netanyahu explicitly stated that 'Israel' must pursue the full removal of the Iranian government, framing any partial defeat as temporary.
  • Netanyahu compared the Iranian ruling establishment to a disease that will inevitably return if not completely eliminated.
The Prime Minister claimed that 90% of the objective has been accomplished, though key phases still remain.

In a Saturday statement outlining 'Israel’s’ strategic trajectory against Tehran, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu argued that military and operational efforts must culminate in the total collapse of the Iranian political system.

Likening the current regime to a returning malignancy, Netanyahu stressed that stopping short of full removal leaves 'Israel' vulnerable to future resurgence. While claiming that the vast majority of the mission has been executed, he said that critical phases remain before 'Israel' considers its security objectives fulfilled.

"We have completed 90% of the work, but as you know, it is like a cancer; if we do not eliminate this regime in Iran, it will return”, Netanyahu stated.

He further reiterated his personal and institutional commitment to dismantling the political structure in Tehran, "I am committed to bringing down this regime, and I know how to do it. We have come a long way, but there are still stages that must be completed."

As of mid-October 2026, relations and regional military interactions between 'Israel' and Iran remain at an unprecedented point of friction. Rhetoric from 'Israeli' leadership has increasingly pivoted from containment and targeted strikes to advocating for full regime collapse in Tehran, citing existential security requirements.

Regional tensions are actively spilling over into vital trade routes, notably the Strait of Hormuz, where maritime security warnings and commercial vessel disruptions remain high following repeated kinetic incidents.

Within 'Israel', where elections loom closer, domestic political figures have raised concerns over the broader timeline and potential domestic political implications of continuing high-intensity military actions against Iranian assets and allies.

Meanwhile, Iranian leadership continues to assert its readiness to respond to further 'Israeli' campaigns while maneuvering amidst heavy diplomatic and economic strain.

Egypt’s parliament to hold emergency session on military support for Saudi Arabia

  • Egypt’s parliament is scheduled to meet on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, to consider authorizing military support for Saudi Arabia if Riyadh requests it.
  • President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has pledged that Egypt will not allow Saudi Arabia’s security to be threatened.
  • The proposed authorization would require parliamentary approval under Egypt’s constitutional framework.

Egypt’s parliament is set to convene an emergency session on Sunday at the request of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to consider granting the government the necessary authorization to provide military support to Saudi Arabia if Riyadh asks for it, with the stated aim of protecting the kingdom’s security and stability.

Egyptian House of Representatives Secretary-General Ahmed Manna informed lawmakers that, in accordance with the parliament’s internal regulations and following a request from the president, a plenary session would be held at 1 p.m. local time on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026.

The move follows recent regional developments and remarks by Sisi during a graduation ceremony for the inaugural graduating cohort of the Egyptian Military Academy.

“We are not seeking a role, but it is inconceivable that we would allow Saudi Arabia and its stability to be threatened,” Sisi said, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to the kingdom.

Military authorization and Gulf security

Sisi reiterated that Egypt would not allow Saudi Arabia’s security to be compromised. He said Egyptian forces would carry out measures to protect and defend the kingdom in accordance with the directives of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

He added that taking such measures would require constitutional approval from parliament, which would grant the government the necessary authorization should the need arise.
