  • El-Sisi ruled out altering Egypt's Constitution to extend his term or prolong his time in office
  • El-Sisi emphasized preparing a new generation of leaders through the Egyptian Military Academy before stepping down
  • The remarks were delivered during a military graduation ceremony in Egypt's New Administrative Capital.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated that his presidency will end in 2030 and ruled out any further constitutional amendments to prolong his tenure.

Addressing attendees at the graduation of the Egyptian Military Academy’s first cohort and new batches from military colleges in the New Administrative Capital, El-Sisi emphasized his adherence to constitutional frameworks and term limits.

"Leaving the Constitution untouched is the right course. In 2030, my term leading the country will end, if I am still alive. This matter is completely settled and will not be discussed further," El-Sisi stated.

El-Sisi said that his remaining period in office will focus on developing state institutions and building leadership capacity across the nation, pointing to programs within the Egyptian Military Academy designed to prepare upcoming leaders.

"I will not leave the Egyptian state until it is brimming with its own people capable of shouldering responsibility," he added.

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi assumed the Egyptian presidency in June 2014 following his victory in the May 2014 presidential election.

Having served subsequent terms after re-elections in 2018 and December 2023, his current six-year term is scheduled to conclude in 2030.

If he serves until the end of his term as declared, El-Sisi will have led the country as president for a total of 16 years.
