Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Wednesday to discuss escalating regional developments and coordinate diplomatic and security efforts.

During the reception, the two leaders reviewed the current security environment across the region, focusing on joint mechanisms to bolster stability and regional security.

Iraq's PM Al-Zaidi expressed the Iraqi government's strong condemnation and denunciation of the recent attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, as well as strikes on vital and civilian infrastructure in the Kingdom, describing such attacks as a direct threat to regional stability.

Security cooperation

Reaffirming Baghdad's foreign policy principles, Al-Zaidi stressed that the Iraqi government maintains a firm stance against allowing Iraqi territory to be used as a launchpad for aggression or operations that harm the security of Saudi Arabia or neighboring countries.

He reiterated Iraq's commitment to good-neighborly relations and full respect for Saudi sovereignty and that of regional states.

For his part, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman underscored Saudi Arabia's keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, placing particular emphasis on intensifying joint security coordination and intelligence sharing to safeguard regional security.
