- Ms. Rachel cried during an ABC appearance while discussing Palestinian children, saying their suffering and the failure to recognize their humanity prompted her tears.
- She said the challenges she faces for advocating for Palestine are insignificant compared with what Palestinians endure during ‘Israel’s’ war on Gaza.
- Accurso condemned the silence of public figures who advocate for human rights but fail to speak up for Palestinians, calling it “racist and cowardly and morally wrong.”
Children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel broke down in tears during a new appearance on ABC Tuesday while speaking about Palestinian children and condemning the silence surrounding their suffering amid ‘Israel’s’ assault on Gaza.
Rachel Griffin Accurso, widely known as Ms. Rachel for her popular educational videos for young children, explained in a caption accompanying the interview that her tears were not about the personal difficulties she has faced for her advocacy, but about the suffering of Palestinians and the failure to recognize their humanity.
“Well I thought this interview was about my album so I wasn’t emotionally prepared,” she wrote on an Instagram caption accompanying the interview. “Also my tears are not because it’s been hard for me they are because it’s so painful to have people not see Palestinian kids and people as human beings who deserve life and freedom.”
Accurso stressed that the criticism she faces for speaking out is insignificant compared with what Palestinians are enduring.
“Nothing I go through advocating for the end of the genocide and a free Palestine is anything compared to people living through a genocide,” she wrote. “So I will always speak up.”
She also condemned the silence of public figures who advocate for human rights but, in her view, fail to extend the same concern to Palestinians.
“And I can’t understand the silence,” she wrote. “To not be willing to risk anything or to not be willing to handle criticism to speak up during a genocide that targets children?”
“The silence from others, especially people who speak up for human rights unless it’s Palestinians is inexcusable and it allows the genocide to continue,” she added. “It’s racist and cowardly and morally wrong. Silence is complicity.”
Accurso has repeatedly used her platform to highlight the plight of Palestinian children since the war on Gaza began, drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis and advocating for their safety and rights.
In August 2025, she appeared on Democracy Now! to discuss her advocacy and spotlight Rahaf, a three-year-old Palestinian girl who lost both legs in an ‘Israeli’ airstrike and was brought to the United States for treatment through the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
