  • ‘Israel’s’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for a criminal investigation into participants in the documentary NAZA, which features ‘Israeli’ soldiers describing mass killings of civilians in Gaza.
  • Netanyahu accused the film of damaging ‘Israel’s’ reputation and called for participants to face trial over alleged security violations and criminal defamation.

‘Israel’s’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for a criminal investigation into participants in the documentary NAZA, which features ‘Israeli’ soldiers describing mass killings of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on X, Netanyahu described the film as a “false, misleading and biased plot that defames the State of Israel” and its military, claiming it also damages ‘Israel’s’ international standing.

He called on the military chief, the Shin Bet security agency and the attorney general to “initiate a comprehensive investigation against the participants” and “bring them to trial for serious information security offences, criminal defamation, and harm to Israel’s political and security interests”.

NAZA, named after the Hebrew acronym for “collateral damage,” examines the use of military targeting systems in the Gaza Strip, including sophisticated technologies reportedly supported by artificial intelligence.

The documentary contends that these systems were used to identify suspected fighters and facilitate strikes that the military knew would kill large numbers of civilians.

The film includes accounts from ‘Israeli’ soldiers describing killings during military operations in Gaza, raising questions about targeting decisions and the scale of civilian casualties.

Netanyahu’s demand seeks to subject the documentary’s participants to an investigation over alleged security-related offenses, defamation and damage to ‘Israel’s’ interests.
