Day 220 | Senior Trump administration officials met to discuss Iran war
Senior Trump administration officials convened at Camp David on Friday to evaluate strategic options regarding the war with Iran and the escalating conflict in Yemen between Houthi fighters and the Saudi-backed government army.
Speaking at a rally Friday night, US President Donald Trump claimed that American strikes have crippled Iranian infrastructure to the extent that recovery would take years even if operations ceased immediately.
"We could leave tomorrow, and it would take them years to rebuild from what we did to them because they just wouldn't negotiate," Trump stated. "They played their cards. They played their cards too tough."
Addressing global economic disruptions caused by the conflict, US President Trump confirmed that European leaders agreed during an emergency Group of Seven (G7) meeting on Friday to release massive quantities of their strategic diesel oil reserves to combat soaring energy prices.
The joint economic intervention comes as maritime trade routes face severe disruptions, with multiple commercial vessels targeted while navigating the Strait of Hormuz, including a fresh strike reported Sunday morning.
