- Syria urged the international community to enforce border integrity and halt Israeli operations.
Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned ongoing ‘Israeli’ military activity on Syrian territory, pointing to continued engineering work along the "Sufa 53 Line.”
In a statement released Sunday, Damascus said the engineering operations and field incursions as a “flagrant breach” of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and a violation of international law.
The statement cautioned that these unilateral moves represent a "direct threat” to regional stability and security.
The so-called Sufa 53 Line is an ‘Israeli’ military engineering and fortification project established along and inside the UN-monitored buffer zone in Syria’s Quneitra countryside, near the separation line in the Golan Heights.
The project includes a fortified military road, earthen berms reaching about five meters in height, trenches and observation posts.
The road and associated fortifications have been constructed in areas east of the 1974 UNDOF separation line, according to Syrian and monitoring sources
The condemnation comes amid reports of resumed excavation, digging, and land-clearing in the area.
Reports indicate that the ongoing excavation has damaged local farmland and grazing pastures in the surrounding rural communities, where residents depend primarily on agriculture and livestock herding for their livelihoods, per the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
