Oscar-winning actress and former UN Special Envoy Angelina Jolie has drawn attention to the scale of destruction across Gaza, sharing updated satellite imagery and calling for urgent humanitarian action.
Jolie shared before-and-after satellite views comparing parts of Gaza before the war with their current condition, directing followers to Google Earth to view the extent of the destruction.

“You can now open Google Earth and see what was done to Gaza,” Jolie wrote.
“Whole neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble,” she said, adding that homes, schools, universities, hospitals, roads, water and sanitation systems, and other infrastructure people relied on “have been damaged or destroyed.”
Jolie cited United Nations satellite assessments showing that, as of June 16, 2026, 82% of structures across Gaza had suffered damage, with roughly two-thirds of those structures classified as completely destroyed.
The satellite imagery shows the transformation of densely populated areas into large stretches of damaged buildings and rubble, including neighborhoods around the Al-Qadisiyah School in Rafah.
Jolie said the images provide a clear picture of the physical destruction but cannot capture the human impact.
“Google Earth shows the physical destruction with extraordinary clarity,” she wrote. “What it cannot show is what it means to live among it, what happened to the families who were killed, and what life is like for those who survived.”
Jolie also highlighted the growing need for shelter and basic supplies as winter approaches, saying around 1.98 million people, or 94% of Gaza’s population, require shelter assistance.
She called on governments and international organizations to accelerate humanitarian access and increase deliveries of shelter materials and medical supplies to Gaza’s hospitals.
“The destruction is visible. The needs are known. What matters now is whether they are met,” Jolie concluded.
