Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that Iranian security and intelligence forces dismantled an armed terrorist team during a surprise operation in the highlands west of Rask County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, as stated by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
Following targeted intelligence tracking by IRGC intelligence personnel, security forces launched a strike against the hidden cell, killing two militants while actively pursuing remaining members who fled the scene.
The group had been involved in multiple past terrorist acts, including the recent martyrdom of Abdolraouf Eshaqi, a Sunni Baluch IRGC member, and a separate attack on a security checkpoint in Rask County, according to the IRGC statement.
Officials disclosed that the cell was actively planning additional assassinations targeting local security personnel across the province in the coming days.
During the clearance of the hideout, forces discovered and confiscated weapons, military supplies, and a satellite internet Starlink terminal.
The IRGC stated that regional security remains a "strict red line" and pledged to maintain continuous surveillance over militant elements in the province.
