23 hours ago|- Search-and-rescue teams worked through the night to reach workers trapped underground.
- Authorities said the rescue operation was completed after all the trapped miners were reached.
Five miners were killed and two others injured after a collapse at a mine in western Türkiye, authorities said on Friday.
The collapse occurred at the Imbat mining operation in Soma, Manisa province, trapping several workers underground and prompting an overnight rescue operation.
Rescuers recovered the bodies of five workers identified as Halit Ersay, Kerim Oren, Ramazan Ince, Isa Olcay and Omer Karakaya. Two others were injured.
The Manisa Governor’s Office said the rescue operation had been completed and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
Soma was the site of Turkey’s deadliest mining disaster in 2014, when 301 workers were killed in an underground fire.
