US President Donald Trump has issued a sharp denial following a report by Axios alleging that his administration offered Iran relief from economic sanctions and the release of frozen funds in exchange for nuclear concessions.
Taking to Truth Social on Monday evening, Trump dismissed the news outlet's reporting.
"Axios just released a story that 'Trump' offered Sanctions Relief and Frozen Funds to Iran. This is untrue. I offered them NOTHING!" President Trump posted on Truth Social. "Axios' story, like most others, is a HOAX, used only for purposes of satisfying their Trump Derangement Syndrome. They should withdraw this fake story, IMMEDIATELY!"
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that he expects a formal response from the United States on Tuesday regarding Tehran's latest proposal for a seven-day ceasefire and the step-by-step reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The announcement comes despite public rejections of the proposed framework by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Araghchi indicated that Qatari intermediaries have been facilitating discussions with U.S. officials and are scheduled to convey Washington's official reply once deliberations wrap up.
"If the Americans claim they are seeking an agreement or a peaceful solution, we have presented that solution," Araghchi stated regarding the proposal submitted through mediators.
The proposal under consideration outlines a seven-day timeline for a regional ceasefire paired with the gradual restoration of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
While US President Trump has publicly rejected the proposed terms, Iranian officials have insisted they will not modify their conditions, leaving the formal response via Qatari intermediaries as the next key step in the indirect negotiations.

The Judiciary's Media Centre said the executions were carried out early Wednesday after the Supreme Court upheld the men's death sentences and all legal procedures had been completed, according to IRNA.
The men were convicted over their role in the deaths of four security personnel during the protests, the report said.
IRNA did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths or the executions.
