Egypt detains 3 ‘Israelis’ for alleged spying

Egyptian authorities and sovereign security agencies in Cairo have continued to detain three ‘Israeli’ nationals for more than six months over serious allegations involving security violations and matters reportedly affecting Egyptian national security.

Media reports identified the three suspects as Bilal Masoudin, 27, Bilal Abu Eish, 28, and Ahmed Al-Douji, 25. The reports said Egyptian security agencies had been monitoring their movements while they were staying in the tourist city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

The three were reportedly referred for questioning by Egypt’s General Intelligence Directorate after their detention, amid what Egyptian authorities described as suspicions surrounding their activities in the country.

According to reports, the arrests took place on March 21, 2026, when Egyptian security forces intercepted a taxi carrying the three suspects near the Taba border crossing, shortly before they were allegedly attempting to leave Egypt.
