In a post on X on Monday, Araghchi shared a screenshot of an opinion article published by Israel Hayom, an 'Israeli' newspaper owned by Miriam Adelson, and accused the publication of openly highlighting the lobby’s influence on US policy.
“The Israel lobby is getting less shy about its grip on U.S. policy toward Iran,” Araghchi wrote, according to Iranian state media.
Araghchi highlighted a passage from the Israel Hayom article that calls for deeper integration between the United States and ‘Israel’ across several areas.
The passage argues that the two countries should strengthen their military, technological, intelligence and economic ties to a level where actions causing financial harm to ‘Israel’ would also carry significant consequences for Washington.
Araghchi characterized the proposal as an effort to ensure that US policy imposes a cost on Washington for any action viewed as harmful to ‘Israel’.
“High time for Washington to break free from these shackles,” he wrote.
The comments come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran over sanctions, military action and efforts to resolve the conflict involving Iran.
Araghchi’s remarks are part of a broader Iranian criticism of the strategic relationship between Washington and ‘Israel’, particularly its impact on US policy toward Iran.
