  • The ‘Israeli’ military blamed Hezbollah for the blast.
  • The military said it later struck several sites in southern Lebanon in response, without saying which ones.

Two ‘Israeli’ soldiers were lightly injured when an army engineering vehicle struck an explosive device in southern Lebanon, the ‘Israeli’ military said.

The army said the soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment and that their families had been notified.

The military blamed Hezbollah for the blast. It said it later struck several sites in southern Lebanon in response. It did not immediately say which sites were hit or give further details on the device.

The incident is the latest in a series involving improvised explosive devices along the front. Engineering vehicles are often used to clear routes and demolish structures, which puts them in the areas most likely to be booby-trapped.
