Gorillaz reaffirm their support for Palestine at Orlando concert

Damon Albarn, frontman of the Grammy-winning English band Gorillaz, walked onto the stage in Orlando, Florida on Sep. 17, 2026 and raised the Palestinian flag in front of the crowd. 

The moment, which took place at the Kia Center as part of The Mountain Tour, caught the attention of attendees and quickly spread across social media.

The gesture is consistent with the band's record. Gorillaz have supported a free Palestine since long before Oct. 7th, and their solidarity has shown up repeatedly on some of the biggest stages they have played.

The band previously took part in the major Together for Palestine benefit concert at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, appearing alongside the world-renowned hip-hop artist Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def.

The festival was produced by Brian Eno, and the London Arab Orchestra was among the other performers. Together they used the platform to raise funds and awareness.

At Primavera Sound in 2026, Gorillaz used their set to directly elevate Palestinian voices. The band was introduced on stage by Aarab Barghouti, a Palestinian activist and the son of imprisoned Palestinian political leader Marwan Barghouti.

Their engagement with the cultural boycott and solidarity efforts goes back well over a decade. In 2010, the Gorillaz Sound System canceled scheduled performances in ‘Israel’. The cancellation followed international outrage over ‘Israel's’ deadly military raid on the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla and Gaza Freedom Flotilla humanitarian mission.
