  • Jordan called the attempted attack "a flagrant violation".

Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned an attempt by the Houthi militia to target Mecca with a drone, describing it as "a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a blatant breach of international law", and as "a rejected assault that represents a disregard for the status and sanctity of Mecca and an affront to the feelings of Muslims."

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fuad Majali affirmed "the Kingdom's absolute solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its support for it in all steps it takes to protect its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents."

The statement follows an announcement by the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed a hostile drone launched by the Houthi militia on Tuesday evening, before it could enter the restricted airspace over Mecca.
