‘Israel’ pursuing “Elimination Project” in West Bank, rights group warns

• The organization called ‘Israeli’ actions in the West Bank a “catastrophe”.

The ‘Israeli’ human rights organization B'Tselem published a report Monday accusing the ‘Israeli’ government of running a coordinated campaign to dismantle the conditions that sustain Palestinian life in the occupied West Bank. 

The human rights organization said that ‘Israel’ is carrying out a project aimed at erasing Palestinians as a people and a community from the West Bank, with the goal of consolidating ‘Israeli’ presence and sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.

“A catastrophe is unfolding across the West Bank. Checkpoints, expulsions, killings and land takeovers are not separate events or isolated human rights violations. They are part of the same system. It is time to connect the dots.”

B’Tselem said ‘Israeli’ authorities are using tools including ethnic cleansing, intimidation, restrictions on residents’ movement, and the suffocation of the local economy to achieve these objectives across the West Bank.

The organization mentioned that this accelerated since the current government took over in 2022, and increased significantly after Oct. 2023.

However, it emphasized that “The Elimination Project is not new. Its logic has shaped Israeli policy for decades through dispossession, fragmentation, military rule and apartheid. In 2017, Bezalel Smotrich published the “Decisive Plan,” centered on making Jewish-Israeli control irreversible. It gives Palestinians three options: relinquish their collective aspirations and live under Jewish supremacy, leave, or face military repression.”

West Bank escalation

Since Oct. 2023, at least 1,338 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank by ‘Israeli’ forces or settlers, according to UN figures, including hundreds of children. 

The killings have continued into 2026 amid intensified military raids and escalating settler attacks across the territory.
