Houthis claim strike on military base in southern Saudi

• Yemeni government forces claim strikes destroyed Houthi equipment and personnel near Mocha and Dhubab.

Yemen's Houthi group claimed it launched drone and missile attacks targeting a military base in southern Saudi Arabia, coinciding with renewed fighting against Yemeni government forces that has displaced growing numbers of civilians.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree alleged that the group targeted the Sharurah military base in southern Saudi Arabia, claiming the strikes hit "weapons depots and command and control centers".

The claims come as military engagements intensify between the Houthi movement and government forces across multiple sectors in western Yemen.

Yemeni forces counter-attack 

In response to recent territorial shifts along the Red Sea coast, Yemeni government forces announced targeted strikes destroying military equipment and neutralizing Houthi fighters near the coastal city of Mocha.

The offensive follows a surprise push by Houthi forces that secured control over Yemen's western coastline and four strategic islands in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, Majid Al-Nuzaili, confirmed that strikes targeted large gatherings of the militia near the port of Mocha and along the Mocha–Dhubab road.

Concurrently, Saudi Civil Defense reported that a projectile fired by the Houthis struck the Al-Tuwal governorate in the border region of Jazan.

The strike resulted in two injuries and caused structural damage to a local mosque and neighboring buildings.

Saudi authorities had issued a warning alarm prior to the strike before declaring the immediate threat cleared.
