A sailboat flying Palestinian flags arrived at the Venice Lido as part of the Global Sumud Italy initiative, sparking demonstrations along the waterfront alongside the ongoing Venice Film Festival.
The vessel sailed into the lagoon area as onshore activists assembled to cheer its arrival, waving flags and chanting pro-Palestinian slogans in a high-visibility demonstration during one of international cinema's primary annual events.

The demonstration was organized in part to draw attention to Palestinian cinematic representation at the festival.
According to the activist group Venice4Palestine, the action was intended as a symbolic gesture in support of Palestinian artists whose films are included in this year's program.
"The Palestinian flag was raised on board the vessel to honor the Palestinian filmmakers and works featured at the Film Festival," Venice4Palestine said in a statement, pointing out that the flag was not flying at the festival's official venue, the Cinema Palace.
