Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement Monday condemning the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by far-right 'Israeli' National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir alongside groups of extremist settlers under the protection of the 'Israeli' police.
The Ministry described the incident as "a flagrant violation of the existing historical and legal status quo at the Holy Al-Haram Al-Sharif, a desecration of its sanctity, a condemned escalation, and an unacceptable provocation."
Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali, official spokesperson for the Ministry, emphasized the Kingdom's "absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the continued unacceptable incursions by extremist ministers, officials, and settlers, alongside their provocative practices, facilitated by the Israeli occupation police."
Al-Majali warned of the consequences of continued incursions and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites and stressed that 'Israel' has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
He also reaffirmed Jordan's firm legal stance, stating:
"The blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entire area of 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims. The Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, is the sole legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction to manage all affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and regulate entry into it."
The Ministry called on the international community to take a firm position obliging 'Israel', as the occupying power, to halt its ongoing violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as provocative practices by 'Israeli' officials and extremists.
