Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her condolences on Sunday after an Italian woman was killed and two more Italians were lightly injured in a shooting at a rave in Switzerland.
Meloni named the victim as Maria Spinelli, calling the shooting a "dramatic incident" and saying she was confident Swiss authorities would "shed full light on what happened and find anyone responsible".
Swiss police were hunting at least one gunman who opened fire at the rave in Aarau near Zurich, killing the Italian woman and wounding five others, some of them seriously.
The shooting, which happened in the early hours of Sunday and sent partygoers running for cover, is a rare event in the Alpine nation, despite its long tradition of gun ownership.
Italy's foreign ministry in a statement it was sending officials to the scene of the incident near Zurich "to closely follow the investigation" and was setting up a task force to assist Italian nationals affected and follow the investigation.
The ministry said two other Italians "were slightly injured and have already returned home".
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis had called his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani to send his condolences, the statement said.
