Ben-Gvir storms cells of Palestinian women detainees

'Israeli' National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir filmed himself entering cells holding Palestinian female detainees, using the encounter to openly brag about stripping prisoners of basic rights and subjecting them to severe detention conditions.

Video footage published by Ben-Gvir showed him personally confronting the veiled female detainees, who detailed an alarming lack of basic hygiene facilities, medical care, and privacy inside the facility.

"This is our third day without showering. We are not receiving medical treatment, and our clothes are not clean," one prisoner told the minister through an interpreter. "We don't receive basic rights, and we have particular needs as women."

Ben-Gvir boasts of inflicting punitive conditions

Rather than addressing the grievances, Ben-Gvir responded boastfully, expressing pleasure over the harsh environment and taking personal credit for enforcing punitive measures against the inmates.

"The good conditions in the prisons are over," Ben-Gvir stated in Hebrew during the exchange. "This is the current situation, and I am directly responsible for everything. I am pleased with these conditions."

When a detainee noted that the minister had no intention of providing relief, Ben-Gvir confirmed his refusal to assist them, openly mocking their situation and framing the harsh treatment as deliberate retribution.

"Correct, I do not want to help you," Ben-Gvir declared, dismissing their plight. "Why should I help you?"

Assault on human dignity

Human rights observers and legal organizations sharply criticized Ben-Gvir's actions, noting that entering the women's section to record and publish their distress serves as an added layer of psychological harassment.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club strongly condemned the filmed raid, stating that Ben-Gvir's public display was designed to humiliate the women and incite further hostility against Palestinian prisoners.

"Ben-Gvir's appearance in the female prisoners' section, filming them and publishing the scenes, is a direct attack on their human dignity," the Palestinian Prisoners' Club said in a statement, pointing to broader documented abuses across 'Israeli' detention facilities, including food deprivation, medical neglect, and physical violence.
