52% of ‘Israelis’ fear revealing their identity when traveling, survey finds

Over half of ‘Israelis’ fear revealing their identity abroad, according to a new survey by the Center for Jewish Impact.

A survey conducted this month by the Center for Jewish Impact found that 52% of ‘Israelis’ report some level of concern about revealing their identity while traveling abroad.

Additionally, 41% said they have actively changed their behavior since the events of October 7, 2023, including altering travel destinations, canceling trips, or avoiding certain activities.

These concerns arise amid growing anti-‘Israel’ hostility, and strained relations with other countries.

The poll also examined views on ‘Israel’s’ diplomacy. While 64% of respondents rate the strategic relationship between ‘Israel’ and the United States as strong, only 23% believe ‘Israel’ effectively communicates its policies and positions to international audiences.

Fully 70% assess ‘Israeli’ public diplomacy as ineffective.

Despite the challenges, many ‘Israelis’ do not see the country’s diminished global standing as permanent. Some 33% identified formulating a long-term national strategy for public diplomacy and communication as the most critical step to improve ‘Israel’s’ image, while 25% pointed to changes in government policy and decision-making.

Only 14% believe the international standing cannot be significantly improved.

On domestic social issues, the center found relatively optimistic notes.

Seventy-three percent of respondents believe ‘Israel’ can still be a cohesive society—up from 67% in February 2026 and the highest level recorded in the survey series.

However, only 64% think secular ‘Israelis’ and Haredim (ultra-Orthodox) can coexist, and just 42% express belief in Jewish-Arab coexistence.
