‘Israeli’ tourists vandalize Icelandic cafe over Palestine poster

A group of tourists from ‘Israel’ confronted an employee at a Palestinian-owned cafe in Keflavík, Iceland, before removing a Palestinian poster from the wall, according to footage shared by the business.
The incident took place on August 15 at Lava Sweets & Cafe. The video shows one of the tourists speaking to an employee before members of the group approach the poster and remove it from the wall.
The cafe said the group also threatened the employee and directed abusive and offensive language at him, describing the incident as “an intimidation attempt and a clear threat.”
The business shared the footage on social media and said the group appeared to have subsequently targeted its Google reviews in what it described as an attempt to damage the cafe’s rating and reputation.

It called on Icelandic police and authorities to take the reported threats seriously, claiming that people in Iceland have recently received threatening messages from individuals from ‘Israel’.
“How many warnings are needed before the authorities recognize that this has gone too far?” the cafe said.
“We trust the Icelandic police, and sincerely hope they will take these threats against so many people much more seriously before someone gets hurt, and before it is too late,” it added.
The cafe said it was concerned that such incidents could become normalized in Iceland and questioned whether authorities would take steps to protect people from threats and intimidation.
The cafe did not provide further details on whether police had opened an investigation into the incident.
