French midfielder Paul Pogba used his Instagram story this week to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, posting a photo of a young person standing amid rubble while holding a cat.

The caption read: “How can I be sad? When I see this?”

The post comes as Pogba’s future at AS Monaco hangs in the balance.

The Ligue 1 club has been in talks to mutually terminate his contract after just one year.

The 33-year-old World Cup winner, who joined on a free transfer in 2025 following a doping ban, has made only six appearances, limited by recurring injuries.

A recent hamstring issue during pre-season training further clouded his prospects.

Pogba has a track record of publicly supporting the Palestinian cause.

In May 2021, while at Manchester United, he and teammate Amad Diallo carried a Palestinian flag around Old Trafford after a match and posted “Pray for Palestine.”

In 2022 he shared images related to children killed in Gaza with a message asking for protection for its people.

More recently, during Ramadan in 2025, he backed an initiative providing free meals to displaced residents in Gaza.
