  • Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot claims Hamas has rebuilt its manpower and military capabilities in the Gaza Strip.
  • Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem rejects the claims and says the movement remains committed to the ceasefire.

Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot warned Friday that Hamas has regained strength in the Gaza Strip and could be preparing for a new attack against ‘Israel’.

Eisenkot accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of allowing conditions to return to those that existed before the October 7, 2023 attack.

In remarks cited by ‘Israeli’ media, Eisenkot said the return to October 7 had been completed under what he described as a failed government.

He also called for an official commission of inquiry to examine the events and prevent them from being repeated.

Eisenkot has previously claimed that Hamas rebuilt much of its manpower and military capabilities during the Gaza ceasefire.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem rejected Eisenkot’s allegations, saying the movement remains committed to the ceasefire agreement.

Qassem called on all parties to pressure ‘Israel’ to implement the terms of the agreement, saying the accusations were intended to justify continued violations and incitement against Hamas.

The remarks come amid continued diplomatic efforts to advance a US-backed plan for the Gaza Strip.

US officials Jared Kushner and Nikolay Mladenov are expected to travel to ‘Israel’ next week to discuss implementation of the plan, according to the information cited by Roya News.

Netanyahu has maintained that ‘Israeli’ forces will not fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip before Hamas is disarmed.
