Jordan’s players and staff have received outstanding prize money for their participation in the 2025 Arab Cup, Jordan Football Association President Prince Ali bin Hussein said.
The announcement came two days after Ali accused FIFA President Gianni Infantino of attempting to pressure him over his support for Infantino’s leadership.
In a post on X, Prince Ali thanked FIFA’s administration for releasing the funds, saying the payment was owed to Jordan’s national team after reaching the Arab Cup final in Qatar last December.
“Thank you to the FIFA administration for suddenly this morning delivering what was owed to our players and coaching staff, for the Jordan National team’s accession to the final of the FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar last December,” Prince Ali wrote.
“This was funding that should have been received eight months ago.”
Prince Ali previously claimed that FIFA had offered assistance to help address Jordan Football Association issues in exchange for his endorsement of Infantino.
He said receiving the funds was a positive step but did not change his concerns over FIFA’s leadership.
“It does not change my clear position concerning the leadership of FIFA: my FA and I will not endorse President Infantino, nor will we vote for him,” Ali said.
FIFA has not publicly responded to Ali’s allegations.
The dispute comes as Infantino seeks to extend his presidency into a fourth and final term, with FIFA’s presidential election scheduled for March.
FIFA leadership reaffirmed support for Infantino following a crisis meeting in Morocco, after the organization faced criticism over a proposal involving the sale of World Cup commercial rights.
