Two 'Israeli' soldiers killed, seven wounded in explosion in southern Lebanon

Two 'Israeli' soldiers were killed and seven others wounded on Wednesday after an explosive device detonated inside a booby-trapped building in southern Lebanon, according to Hebrew media reports.

The 'Israeli' news outlet reported that the two soldiers were members of the “55th Brigade” and were killed when the explosive device went off inside a building that 'Israeli; forces had reportedly been controlling in the area for some time. Seven other soldiers who were inside the building were also injured in the blast.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hebrew media reported that several 'Israeli' soldiers were wounded after a landmine exploded in the southern Lebanese town of Majdal Zoun. The injured troops were reportedly evacuated to hospitals for treatment by 'Israeli' military helicopters.

The incident comes amid continued 'Israeli' military operations inside Lebanese territory despite a ceasefire agreement signed in Washington under US mediation. The truce has faced repeated violations, with reports of ongoing strikes, explosions, and gunfire in southern Lebanon.

The latest developments follow an incident last Saturday, when an 'Israeli' military officer was wounded during clashes with Hezbollah fighters in the Ali al-Taher area of southern Lebanon.

'Israeli' forces have continued operations in Lebanon since March 2, 2026, with Lebanese authorities reporting thousands of casualties during the ongoing escalation.

The 'Israeli' military continues to maintain control over several areas in southern Lebanon, including positions held for decades and others taken during recent confrontations, while also expanding its presence deeper into Lebanese territory during the current offensive.
