  • Iglesias has been outspoken in support of Palestine, drawing attention for comments criticizing Israel's actions in Gaza.

Spanish footballer Borja Iglesias says he receives daily death threats and racist abuse through his Instagram account, sharing screenshots of messages he says have become a constant part of his online experience.

Iglesias, who plays for RC Celta de Vigo, posted examples of the abusive messages, saying the threats and insults are directed at him every day.

The striker has been one of Spain's most outspoken footballers in support of Palestine.

In September 2025, Iglesias defended protesters who interrupted stages of the Vuelta a España cycling race to protest the participation of 'Israel' Premier Tech, saying, "It surprises me that we give more importance to stopping a sporting event than to a genocide."

The following month, he reiterated his position during a media interview, saying, "If someone runs onto the pitch waving a Palestinian flag and it helps, I hope they do it when I take my shot, even if my goal is disallowed."

Iglesias has not indicated that he intends to change his public stance despite the threats, which he says continue to appear on his social media accounts every day.
