Tanker off Oman reports explosion near vessel: monitor
The master of a tanker off the coast of Oman has reported hearing an explosion near the vessel, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Centre reported Sunday.
"The vessel and crew are all reported as safe," said the UKMTO. The incident happened 20 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, in Oman, the monitor added.
Trump says new talks with Iran to begin Monday after calling off strikes
US President Donald Trump said that negotiations with Iran will begin Monday after he decided to hold off on new strikes against the Islamic republic to pursue a deal.
"Obviously, they don't want to be attacked. They knew the extent of the attack because they saw it forming," Trump told reporters on Sunday aboard Air Force One. "Now what we're doing is we're talking to them in the form of a negotiation. It begins tomorrow afternoon."
'Israeli' officials say they learned of Trump’s Iran strike reversal from social media
'Israeli' officials were caught off guard after US President Donald Trump announced he had cancelled planned strikes on Iran, with senior 'Israeli' figures saying they learned of the decision through Trump's social media post rather than through prior coordination.
According to 'Israel's' Channel 12, citing 'Israeli' sources, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of the security cabinet only became aware of the decision after Trump published his announcement.
Trump said the United States had agreed to hold off on military action against Iran, provided that a deal could be reached quickly.
The apparent lack of advance notice has fuelled concerns within 'Israel' over the clarity of Washington's strategy toward Tehran.
Yedioth Ahronoth quoted an 'Israeli' official as saying that Iran remains 'Israel's' top priority and that decision-making becomes more difficult when the US position is unclear.
Separately, 'Israel's' public broadcaster KAN cited an Israeli official as saying it is difficult to prepare and plan seriously for the future given the way Trump is handling developments.
KAN also quoted 'Israeli' officials as saying that most current discussions are focused on the future of the Strait of Hormuz, while uncertainty remains over other key issues.
