'Israeli' strikes kill seven in Gaza after Hamas disarmament deal

At least seven Palestinians were killed in 'Israeli' strikes across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, according to Gaza's Civil Defense and local health officials, a day after Hamas announced it had reached an agreement to disarm under a new ceasefire framework that also includes a gradual 'Israeli' military withdrawal from the enclave.

The agreement, first announced by US President Donald Trump and later published by the Board of Peace, calls for both 'Israel' and Hamas to halt military operations. It also outlines a phased withdrawal of 'Israeli' forces from areas they still control in Gaza and the dismantling of armed groups, including Hamas.

While Hamas confirmed it had accepted the disarmament agreement, 'Israel' has not issued an official response.

Despite the announcement, reports of airstrikes and gunfire continued across Gaza on Saturday. A Palestinian security source accused the 'Israeli' military of continuing its offensive and violating the ceasefire agreement.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense, said seven people were killed in separate strikes in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, and Khan Younis in the south.

In the early hours of Saturday, a strike in Deir al-Balah wounded several people, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, with witnesses confirming the attack.

Hours later, another strike hit a warehouse storing medicines and medical supplies belonging to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, causing extensive damage, Gaza's Health Ministry said.

The 'Israeli' military claimed it had targeted a building used by Hamas members as a shelter and weapons storage site, adding that it had taken precautions to warn civilians before the strike.

Gaza's Health Ministry condemned what it described as a "heinous crime," saying the attack destroyed two of the facility's four medical storage warehouses and severely damaged the remaining two, as well as the hospital's adjacent outpatient building.

AFP footage from the scene showed a large crater and scattered medical supplies as Palestinians searched through the debris.

The Gaza Health Ministry said 152 people were killed across the territory during the past month, marking the highest monthly death toll recorded since the beginning of the year.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement accused 'Israel' of continued escalation and ceasefire violations, arguing that the attacks undermine confidence in the agreement's ability to end the war.

Speaking in Cairo, officials from Hamas and Islamic Jihad called on mediators to ensure that 'Israel' halts "all forms of aggression."

Senior Hamas official Basem Naim said "the ball is now in the Israeli occupation's court," urging mediators to pressure 'Israel' to stop its attacks and ceasefire violations.

Although a ceasefire between 'Israel' and Hamas has officially been in place for more than nine months, the 'Israeli' military has continued carrying out strikes in Gaza, saying they target armed fighters.

According to Gaza's Health Ministry, at least 1,222 Palestinians have been killed in 'Israeli' attacks since last October. The ministry's casualty figures are regarded by the United Nations as generally reliable.
