  • Iran has begun funeral services for air force pilot Majid Kazemi, who was killed during a March 2026 mission.
  • Officials say efforts are continuing to recover or identify the three other crew members from the two Su-24 bombers.

Funeral services have begun in Iran for an air force pilot killed during a military mission in March, after his remains were recently recovered and identified.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced in a statement on X that funeral processions were under way for Second Brigadier-General Pilot Majid Kazemi, paying tribute to his service.

According to Baghaei, Kazemi's remains were recently recovered and identified months after he was killed during a mission on March 2, 2026.

Kazemi was one of four crew members aboard two Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force Su-24 bombers that were involved in an attack over the Gulf.

Iranian military officials said the aircraft were struck by air defense systems during the operation.

Baghaei said authorities are continuing efforts to locate or identify the three remaining crew members who have not yet been recovered.
