‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that what he called “vigilantism” among ‘Israeli’ settlers in the occupied West Bank is restricted to a minor minority, saying that "99.9%" of the settler population consists of “law-abiding citizens.”

Speaking in an interview with ABC News, Netanyahu claimed his government is taking action against settlers inciting violence, while further claiming that public accounts of violent incidents lack the proper proportion.

“I—I—I think vigilantism is against the law…And we're taking action against them,” Netanyahu said.

"But put it in proportion: the vast majority of the settler community, like 99.9% are law-abiding citizens."

However, human rights organizations and international observers have sharply rejected Netanyahu's framing, pointing out that violent attacks by ‘Israeli’ settlers against Palestinian communities have reached unprecedented levels.

According to United Nations monitoring data, hundreds of incidents involving arson, physical assaults, property destruction, and land seizure occur with alarming frequency, often under the direct view or implicit protection of ‘Israeli’ security forces.
