The Egyptian men's epee team won the bronze medal at the World Fencing Championship on Wednesday, defeating 'Israel' 39-38 in a bout decided by a single golden touch.

The World Championship, which runs from July 22 to July 30 in Hong Kong, featured a strong Egyptian squad composed of Mohamed El-Sayed, Youssef Shamel, Mahmoud Mohsen, and Mahmoud El-Sayed.

Egypt launched its team event campaign in the round of 32 with a 44-33 win over Portugal. The team then advanced through a narrow 36-35 victory against Spain in the round of 16.

In the quarterfinals, the Pharaohs eliminated their Russian counterparts with a 45-35 scoreline.

Egypt's push for gold was halted in the semifinals following a 41-32 loss to Kazakhstan. However, the Egyptian team recovered in the third-place match, edging out 'Israel' by one touch to earn the bronze medal.
