Google chooses 11 out of 33 ‘Israeli’ startups for cybersecurity forum

Of the 33 startups selected for Google’s inaugural Gemini Startup Forum: Cybersecurity, 11 are either founded in ‘Israel’ or led by Israeli entrepreneurs, organizers confirmed.
The two-day program, set for London in September, partners Google for Startups with Google Cloud, Google DeepMind, Mandiant, VirusTotal and the Israeli firm Wiz.
Participants gain access to Google’s AI models, infrastructure and mentoring to accelerate AI-driven defenses.
Eight of the selected companies are based in ‘Israel’, while three more are US-based firms founded by ‘Israeli’ entrepreneurs.
Focus areas include AI agent security and governance, application security, cloud and infrastructure protection, endpoint security, security operations automation and specialized services.
The concentration of ‘Israeli’ presence raises questions. While the cohort includes firms from the United States, Britain, Ireland, France, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Poland and Spain, one-third of the slots going to a single ecosystem carries risks.
Critics have also pointed to deeper political implications. Google’s collaboration with Wiz—acquired by the company in a record $32 billion deal—and the inclusion of so many ‘Israeli’-linked startups has drawn scrutiny for deepening technological ties with ‘Israel’s’ security ecosystem amid ongoing regional conflict.
Some observers argue that such partnerships further entangle commercial AI infrastructure with a highly militarized innovation environment.
