  • Trump announces the resumption of direct US commercial flights to Lebanon after decades of suspension.
  • Lebanese officials welcome the decision, saying it will strengthen travel links and support the country's economy.

US President Donald Trump announced that his administration will allow the resumption of direct flights by US airlines to Lebanon, ending a suspension that has been in place for decades.

In a post on Truth Social following his meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Trump praised the Lebanese leader's efforts to reform the country.

"After meeting with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, who has done a remarkable job working to transform his Country, I am hereby directing my Administration to allow all US airline carriers to fly directly to Lebanon so that Americans can easily visit this beautiful land," Trump wrote.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam welcomed the announcement, saying the move would strengthen ties between the two countries.

He said the decision "represents a significant opportunity to enhance travel and connectivity between Lebanon and the United States, and to support the Lebanese economy."

The announcement marks a major shift in US aviation policy toward Lebanon and could restore direct commercial air links between the two countries for the first time in decades.
