Jordan summons Iranian envoy over attacks on Kingdom

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday formally summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Embassy in Amman, delivering a fiercely worded diplomatic protest against Tehran's intensifying military and political actions targeting the Kingdom.

The diplomatic escalation follows a series of severe regional security breaches, coming just hours after the Jordanian military confirmed the interception of multiple Iranian rockets over its sovereign airspace.

The Ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali, affirmed that the diplomatic summoning was used to convey an uncompromising ultimatum directly to the Iranian leadership.

The Kingdom demanded that Tehran immediately cease its cross-border aggression, emphasizing that Jordan will not tolerate threats to its domestic stability.

"Jordan's security and the safety of its citizens represent a red line that cannot be crossed," Ambassador Al-Majali declared.

The protest note also took direct aim at the psychological warfare and political posturing accompanying the military operations, with Amman demanding an immediate end to "provocative and inflammatory statements" issued by official Iranian entities regarding the Kingdom.

Ambassador Al-Majali clarified that the Ministry used the meeting to reiterate its absolute condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian strikes, categorizing them as a blatant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Furthermore, Jordan expanded its diplomatic rebuke to encompass the broader geopolitical theater.

The Ministry reaffirmed its strong condemnation of parallel Iranian attacks targeting sisterly Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

Expressing absolute solidarity, Amman pledged full support for all defensive steps the GCC nations undertake to protect their respective sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents.

Al-Majali concluded the briefing by reinforcing that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will continue to execute all available and necessary measures to safeguard its borders and people.
