  • Trump Media is reportedly planning a premium Truth Social data feed for financial firms.
  • The proposed "Truth API" would offer faster access to selected Truth Social posts.
  • The initiative has drawn ethical criticism over potential financial benefits tied to presidential communications.
  • Analysts say the service could provide trading advantages while raising unresolved legal questions.

Donald Trump’s social media company has held discussions to charge Wall Street traders and investment firms as much as $100,000 per month for high-speed access to the US president’s posts on his Truth Social platform, according to people familiar with the matter.

The premium data service represents Trump Media & Technology Group's (TMTG) first major foray into data licensing, opening a lucrative revenue stream that critics argue directly monetizes official government policy announcements.

Millisecond market advantage

TMTG officially unveiled the paid, licensed data feed under the name "Truth API," designed to provide banks and trading firms with the fastest possible access to posts from the 10 most influential accounts on Truth Social.

While the company did not publicly disclose pricing, sources speaking on the condition of anonymity revealed that TMTG has also pitched a discounted rate of $60,000 per month for firms willing to commit to a three-year plan.

The 24-hour service, which includes an archive dating back to 2022, has reportedly signed up its first clients ahead of its August 1 launch.

The data feed targets high-frequency trading firms, where a speed advantage of just a few milliseconds can translate into hundreds of thousands of dollars in gains.

The commercial value of the feed is tightly bound to US President Trump's tendency to move financial markets via social media.

For instance, on April 9, 2025, major Wall Street indexes surged after Trump utilized Truth Social to announce a 90-day pause on many of his newly proposed tariffs.

Ethical backlash

The monetization model drew immediate and fierce condemnation from congressional Democrats and ethics watchdogs, who accuse the Trump family of leveraging public office for corporate survival and personal enrichment.

The Donald Trump Revocable Trust, managed by his children, holds a 41% controlling stake in TMTG, making the president the primary beneficiary of the company's revenues.

"This is an egregious scheme to profit off the presidency and enrich Wall Street while doing nothing to help Americans," said US Senator Elizabeth Warren, the top Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee.

Senator Ron Wyden, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, echoed the sentiment, stating the model is tailored to financially benefit the Trump family while making wealthy traders richer.

Donald Sherman, president of the nonpartisan watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), described the arrangement as "wildly unethical" but noted that it masterfully navigates legal loopholes.

"I don't think Congress or any regulatory body ever contemplated that a president or a market-mover would engage in this kind of paying-for-access type arrangement," Sherman observed.

Legal experts point out that the US Constitution's emoluments clauses do not apply to domestic corporate transactions of this nature.

Furthermore, because potentially hundreds of firms could buy into the API simultaneously, the distribution does not technically violate federal insider trading regulations regarding material, non-public information.

The White House has declined to comment on the criticism, referring all inquiries directly to TMTG management.
