Kuwait said Saturday that a second power generation and water desalination plant had come under an Iranian attack and caught fire, while Bahrain said it intercepted fresh Iranian attacks, as Tehran continued targeting its Gulf neighbors in response to US strikes on its territory.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said in a statement: "As a result of the criminal Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, another power generation and water desalination plant was subjected to a hostile attack, causing a fire in one of the plant's components. This required precautionary operational measures, including disconnecting a number of generating units to protect the facility and its workers and ensure the stability of the electricity grid."
It marks the second attack on a power generation and water desalination plant in two days, after Kuwait announced Friday that one of its plants had been struck in an Iranian attack that caused a fire and damaged facilities and generating units.
Kuwait Airways announced Saturday that it had "rescheduled most of its flights due to the temporary suspension of takeoffs and landings at Kuwait International Airport because of hostile missile and drone attacks following the Iranian aggression."
In Bahrain, the military said Saturday it had intercepted new Iranian attacks.
Bahrain’s military said in a statement: "The Bahrain Defence Force's air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a number of treacherous Iranian aerial attacks today, Saturday."
Since early Saturday, Bahrain's Interior Ministry has issued five alerts on X announcing the activation of air raid sirens, urging "citizens and residents to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe place, and follow official news channels."
The Iranian military said Saturday it had struck military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian territory.
Iranian state television reported on Telegram that Iranian forces targeted an ammunition depot at Al Adira Base, headquarters buildings and ammunition depots at Ali Al Salem Air Base, and several communications bridges in Kuwait, in addition to targeting a US air base in Bahrain.
