The ‘Israeli’ military said on Wednesday it had sentenced an active-duty soldier to five years in prison for sending videos of missile interceptions to an Iranian agent.

The soldier sent two such videos during the 12-day war with Iran in June last year and "received payment for them," the military said.

It added that he had also shared several videos filmed in civilian locations with the Iranian agent.

According to the military, one of the videos sent from a civilian location documented the impact of a missile and had been found by the soldier online.

The military said that "after feeling pressured, the defendant informed one of the officers in his unit that he had been in contact with a foreign agent," before he was arrested by ‘Israel's’ domestic security agency, Shin Bet.

According to the statement, the soldier, who was serving his compulsory military service, was contacted through his Telegram account, where he received job offers.

One of those offers came from an alleged Iranian agent who asked him to carry out filming assignments.

Prosecutors had sought a seven-year prison sentence for the soldier, whose identity was not disclosed.

The military said the court took into account that "the defendant did not transfer military information or information obtained through his military duties, that he himself ended contact with the foreign agent, and that he immediately reported the contact to his commanders."

It added that the court sentenced the soldier to five years in prison, along with a suspended prison term, a 1,000-shekel fine, and a reduction in military rank.

In June 2025, ‘Israel’ launched an attack on Iran, triggering a 12-day war during which Tehran fired missiles at ‘Israel’. The United States joined ‘Israel’ in the final days of the conflict.
