- An Iranian security source warned of retaliation if Trump orders a strike on Pickaxe Mountain.
- Trump said the Iranian site was “on the list” of potential US targets.
Iran will deliver a “devastating response” if US President Donald Trump carries out his threat to strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain, a senior Iranian security source told CNN.
“If Trump acts on his threats, we will deliver a devastating response, and the price will be paid by American soldiers and his regional partners,” the source said.
Trump said Monday in an interview with “The Hugh Hewitt Show” that Pickaxe Mountain, known in Farsi as Kuh-e Kolang, was among potential targets and that the US would “probably” strike it soon.
“We see no activity there. They’re not doing well with their nuclear situation,” Trump said, adding that the US had targeted Iranian nuclear-related sites whenever activity was detected.
The Iranian source rejected US claims that nuclear activities were taking place at Pickaxe Mountain.
The official also addressed Iran’s decision to declare the Strait of Hormuz “closed,” saying Tehran would continue defending what it described as the rights of the Iranian people.
The source added that any US decision on striking Pickaxe Mountain would not affect Iran’s position regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
