Bahrain's air defenses intercepted a number of new Iranian attacks on Tuesday, the military said, after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had struck targets in the kingdom.

The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said in a statement that its air defense systems "successfully intercepted and destroyed a number of treacherous Iranian aerial attacks on Tuesday morning."

The statement added that "Iran continues its systematic hostile approach through its criminal attacks targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain."

Explosions were heard in the capital, Manama, on Tuesday morning after air raid sirens sounded three times since dawn.

Bahrain's Ministry of Defence issued warnings on X, saying: "The warning siren has been activated. We ask citizens and residents to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe location, and follow official news channels for updates."

Earlier, Iranian state television quoted the IRGC as saying that "military logistics support warehouses, a satellite communications center, and the residential building of US forces in Bahrain were targeted."
