  • Report says Iran was considering a fresh assassination plan.
  • Trump says he is "on every" Iranian target list.
  • Report comes amid strains between Trump and Netanyahu over Iran.

'Israel' recently shared intelligence with the United States claiming that Iran was considering a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the intelligence suggested a fresh Iranian plan to target Trump, marking what could be a significant escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran. Iran has repeatedly vowed to avenge the 2020 US killing of Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force, during Trump's first term.

The Journal said the 'Israeli' Embassy in Washington declined to comment, while Iran's mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Speaking to reporters in Ankara on Wednesday, Trump referred to ongoing threats against his life.

"They want to take out the U.S. leader, me," Trump said. "I'm on every list. I saw this morning, I'm on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I've been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn't last very long."

The report comes amid signs of growing differences between Trump and 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the conflict with Iran. According to the Journal, Netanyahu has pushed for continued military operations to achieve additional objectives, while Trump has sought to avoid further escalation, citing concerns that a prolonged conflict could damage the global economy. The US brokered a fragile ceasefire with Iran last month.

Trump and Netanyahu spoke by phone on Thursday, with the 'Israeli' prime minister's office saying they agreed to continue coordination between their countries. The statement added that Trump briefed Netanyahu on recent US activity in the Gulf.

The Journal also reported that mourners at the funeral of Iran's slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei chanted slogans calling for Trump's death and displayed a banner reading, "We Will Kill Trump."

According to the newspaper, Trump and Netanyahu were in frequent contact during the early stages of the conflict, with the 'Israeli' leader regularly sharing intelligence and discussing military targets. While the two leaders continue to speak, the report said their relationship has shown signs of strain in recent weeks.
