  • A work strike at the ‘Israeli’ side of the King Hussein Bridge disrupted passenger movement, allowing only 25 of 50 scheduled buses to cross.
  • Jordan’s Interior Ministry warned the disruption prevented many Palestinian travelers from reaching the West Bank and could affect travel in the coming days.

A work strike by personnel at the ‘Israeli’ side of the King Hussein Bridge caused major disruptions to passenger movement on Wednesday, Jordan’s Ministry of Interior said.

Ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdul Karim Abu Dalou said the strike reduced the number of buses able to cross toward the Palestinian territories by 50%. Only 25 out of 50 scheduled buses completed their journeys.

The strike began at 10:00 am and continued until 1:00 pm, significantly slowing the flow of travelers through the crossing.

Before the strike began, 12 buses crossed toward the Palestinian territories, while only 13 buses were able to pass after the strike ended, according to the ministry.

Abu Dalou said the disruption left a large number of Palestinian travelers unable to reach their destinations, forcing some to return from the bridge.

The ministry warned that the impact of the strike could continue to affect travel movement through the crossing in the coming days.
