A military strike on the strategic Sirik port in southern Iran injured four people and caused heavy damage to maritime infrastructure, Iran’s official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

The attack struck the port basin in two waves, damaging one of the facility’s main floating piers, according to Hamidreza Mohammadhosseini Takhti, head of ports and maritime affairs for eastern Hormozgan province.

Local commercial vessels and nearby telecommunications towers were also damaged, IRNA reported.

One person suffered critical injuries and was evacuated to a hospital in Minab, while three others received treatment for minor injuries at the scene, Mohammadhosseini Takhti said.

The strike followed reported overnight operations by the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) targeting several locations across Hormozgan province, including Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island, amid weeks of rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.

IRNA reported that operations at Sirik port were disrupted, while neighboring shipping hubs, including the ports of Jask and Tiab, remained operational under increased security measures.
